Kadokawa Corporation cooperates with N&V Bridge Group to expand the comic and light novel market, establishing a human resource training base in Vietnam

From March 6, 2019 to March 8, 2019, N&V Bridge acted as a consulting company in cooperation with Kadokawa Corporation, arranged to bring the group’s leaders to visit and survey the Vietnamese market.

The detailed schedule is as follows:

1. Visit N&V Bridge office – Hanoi branch

2. Visit and meeting at Hanoi Department of Culture – Sports and Tourism (Deputy Director: Ms. Bui Thi Thu Hien)

3. Visit and exchange meeting with the Representative of the University of Industrial Fine Arts in Hanoi city.

4. Visit and exchange meeting with Kim Dong Publishing House (Director: Mr. Pham Quang Vinh) During the meeting with the representative of N&V Bridge Group – General Director Mr. Nguyen Vo Huyen Duong, representative of Kadokawa Group – Vice President / Manager of the manga segment – Mr. Masayuki Aoyagi expressed his desire to cooperate with N&V Co., Ltd. Bridge, implementing a project to teach drawing comics in Vietnam, with the audience being Vietnamese and Asian readers.

Mr. Duong’s side affirmed that they are ready for extensive and strategic cooperation, capable of providing professional human resources in the field of perspective drawing – comic characters, and at the same time establishing a research room to support human resources.

One of the highlights of the visit to Hanoi was the brief meeting of the delegation with the Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Department representative – Ms. Bui Thi Thu Hien expressed her opinion: “Hanoi is the capital of a thousand years of civilization, with a tradition of reading books, especially the comic market with a large number of young readers.

The department currently also manages the system of bookstores and libraries throughout the city, and will assist in introducing and promoting Kadokawa’s books.” In order to prepare human resources for this long-term project, Kadokawa also had an exchange with Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts. Mr. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto (chief consultant) as a bridge, introduced the two sides to discuss about opening a class to recruit storytellers.

Through visiting the graduation project gallery of final year students, Mr. Aoyagi also recognized that MTCN students have very good potential and ability to develop. The cooperation will contribute to improving the qualifications and supporting employment for students.

Towards the wide coverage of Kadokawa Group’s works, the delegation also met Mr. Pham Quang Vinh – Director of NVB Kim Dong – and personnel in charge of copyright and foreign affairs at the Publishing House. The Publishing House – Mr. Vinh commented: “Kadokawa’s works are always among the best-selling books in Vietnam.

Being able to cooperate in the future will create conditions for both sides to develop together and expand the market to different ages. Another potential area is e-books – which are predicted to dominate 50% of the market in the coming years.

With the goal of developing Light novels through an online reading system, the two sides need to establish privacy terms, build apps, etc. to optimize the rights of service users. Mr. Aoyagi said: “Kim Dong Publishing House is the leading publishing house in Vietnam, has a reputation and always puts the issue of copyright / author’s rights, customer care service first.
